Chanda Ghimire, aged 38, hails from Tilottama-6, where amidst the serene backdrop near Basghari Temple, he has carved out a thriving agricultural enterprise. Starting with just 1 kattha of land in Ward No. 4 of Tilottama Municipality, Ghimire embarked on his entrepreneurial journey with Chanda Agriculture Farm. Ghimire's initial success came not without challenges. Complaints of pollution from neighbors prompted him to expand his operations to a sprawling 10 kattha farm in Tilottama-6. Here, he diversified his ventures beyond buffalo rearing to include local chicken and goat farming. Despite setbacks, such as losing 900 chickens during a storm, Ghimire persevered, currently overseeing approximately 100 local chickens, 45 goats, and a buffalo. In Ghimire's quest for expansion and sustainability, organizations like Daayitwa played a crucial role. Through grants and support exceeding NPR 50 lakhs, Ghimire was able to invest in farm infrastructure and land acquisitions, facilitating his farm's growth and enhancing productivity. Today, Ghimire's efforts are yielding substantial returns. He reports significant earnings from selling goats and bucks, fetching between NPR 20,000 to 25,000 each, and poultry sales ranging from NPR 600 to 800 per kilogram. This seasonal income has not only stabilized his financial standing but also encouraged further growth in his agricultural pursuits. Ghimire's success extends beyond personal gain. His farm has become a local employment hub, providing livelihoods to several individuals within the community. By engaging in sustainable agricultural practices and creating employment opportunities, Ghimire has emerged as a catalyst for economic empowerment in Tilottama. Chanda Ghimire's journey exemplifies resilience and innovation in rural entrepreneurship.
