Bhagwati Basyal
Bhagwati Basyal, aged 47, hails from Vaibhav Achar Udhyog located in Tilottama-5, a Coffee Company known for its pickle production. Since 2056 BS (1999 AD), Basyal has been dedicated to empowering women through pickle-making training. Her efforts have touched the lives of over 1000 women across various districts including Gulmi, Palpa, Arghakhanchi, Rupandehi's Tilottama, Omsatiya, Siyari, Shuddhodhan, and Sainamaina. Through her initiatives, many women have ventured into entrepreneurship, inspired by her training and guidance. Basyal's journey began with a simple yet profound mission: to uplift women in rural areas by imparting skills in pickle production. Starting with humble beginnings, she identified a gap in women's economic empowerment and decided to fill it through education and opportunity. Her training sessions not only focused on technical skills but also instilled a sense of entrepreneurship among participants. During one of her training sessions, she famously asked, "Madam, do you also want to start a good business?" This question, asked repeatedly, served as a catalyst for many women to consider entrepreneurship seriously. Encouraged by the response and the potential impact, Basyal registered Vaibhav Achar Udhyog and officially began her journey as a businesswoman and mentor. Like any pioneering effort, Basyal faced numerous challenges along the way. From logistical hurdles in organizing training sessions across diverse locations to initial financial constraints, each obstacle strengthened her resolve to succeed. However, with perseverance and community support, she transformed these challenges into opportunities. The pickle industry in Nepal, fueled by local raw materials, presented a sustainable avenue for economic growth. Basyal capitalized on this by promoting domestic production and expanding her business model. Starting with an initial investment of 5 lakhs, her enterprise now requires investments ranging from 10 to 12 lakhs, reflecting its growth and impact on the local economy. In her journey, Basyal found a supportive partner in Daayitwa, an organization committed to fostering rural entrepreneurship in Nepal. Through Daayitwa's programs and initiatives, Basyal gained access to resources, networks, and mentorship opportunities that further fueled her enterprise's growth. Their collaborative efforts have not only enhanced Basyal's business acumen but also contributed significantly to the empowerment of women in rural communities. Today, Vaibhav Achar Udhyog stands as a beacon of success and empowerment in the pickle industry. Established formally in 2077 BS (2020 AD), the enterprise provides seasonal employment to 7 to 9 individuals, offering sustainable livelihoods during peak production periods. Basyal's dedication to training has directly impacted around 100 women, either through group training sessions or individual mentorship, fostering a new generation of female entrepreneurs in Nepal. Bhagwati Basyal's journey from a passionate advocate for women's empowerment to a successful businesswoman exemplifies resilience, vision, and community impact. Through her efforts at Vaibhav Achar Udhyog, she not only transforms raw materials into pickles but also transforms lives by empowering women with skills, opportunities, and hope for a brighter future. As Nepal's pickle industry continues to expand, Basyal remains a guiding force, embodying the spirit of entrepreneurship and social responsibility. Her story serves as an inspiration and a testament to the transformative power of education, entrepreneurship, and community collaboration in driving sustainable development and gender equality in Nepal's rural heartlands.
