Balaram Kafle
Balaram Kafle, originally from Parbat, Tilottama-9, Gyanodaya Tole, had his roots deeply embedded in education. Born into village life, his journey began in the field of education, where he spent 20 years serving his community before transitioning to a new path. In B.S. 2065, Balaram moved with his family to Tilottama, marking a pivotal moment in his career. Despite this transition, his passion for education persisted, driving him to continue his work in the village. However, his heart was drawn towards a new venture – sheep farming. Balaram then embarked on his entrepreneurial journey in Rupandehi, where he established his first sheep pen. With determination and support from his colleague Krishna Bahadur Rana, Balaram expanded his operations, venturing into the Tarai region to further his sheep farming ambitions. Like any journey, Balaram's path was not without challenges. Early setbacks, such as losses due to unforeseen circumstances like poisoning in the Marwar region, tested his resolve. However, Balaram's resilience and strategic approach enabled him to turn challenges into opportunities. His business acumen led him to successfully sell sheep, with significant earnings of 7 to 8 lakhs from the sale of 10 quintals of sheep in a single year. Daayitwa, an organization dedicated to empowering rural entrepreneurs in Nepal, played a crucial role in Balaram's journey. Through training and support, Daayitwa equipped Balaram with the necessary skills and resources to excel in sheep farming. Their guidance proved invaluable in navigating the complexities of agricultural entrepreneurship, enabling Balaram to establish himself as a prominent figure in the local economy. Currently, Balaram Kafle operates a thriving sheep farming business with 45 houses and ambitious plans for further expansion. His annual target includes selling sheep worth Rs. 4 to 5 lakhs, reflecting his steady growth and profitability in the industry. Beyond financial success, Balaram's venture has created employment opportunities within the community, contributing to local economic development. Balaram's contributions extend beyond economic gains. By providing employment to numerous individuals in his community, Balaram has fostered socio-economic growth and stability.
