Radheshyam Lodh


Radheshyam Lodh, residing in Tilottama-14, New Durganagar, began his agricultural journey with traditional vegetable farming inherited from his grandparents. Over the past three decades, he dedicatedly cultivated vegetables, primarily cauliflower, okra, bitter gourd, and tomatoes, using natural farming methods. His passion for farming led him to explore opportunities beyond traditional methods and towards commercialization. Radheshyam Lodh's transition from traditional farming to entrepreneurship was driven by a vision to modernize and expand his agricultural practices. Forming the Suryakiran Farmers Group enabled him to involve other community members in his venture. Together, they collectively embraced the challenge of transforming traditional farming into a profitable business model. Lodh invested approximately 1.7 million NPR in equipment like hand tractors and irrigation motors, facilitating efficient farming operations across his two-acre plot. The journey was not without challenges. Lodh faced initial hurdles in scaling up production and navigating market complexities. However, his persistence and strategic approach paid off as he successfully integrated local market demands into his production cycle. The opportunities for growth were vast, with increasing consumer interest in locally sourced, organic produce driving market demand. Daayitwa played a pivotal role in Lodh's entrepreneurial journey. The organization provided crucial support and guidance, empowering Lodh and other community members with business planning, financial management skills, and market integration strategies. Through Daayitwa's initiatives, Lodh learned essential aspects of running a successful enterprise, enhancing his business acumen and enabling sustainable growth. Today, Radheshyam Lodh stands as a successful entrepreneur, generating an estimated income of 400,000 NPR per season from his vegetable farming enterprise. Beyond personal success, Lodh has significantly contributed to the community by providing employment opportunities. His venture has created jobs for several individuals within the community, contributing to local economic development and empowerment. Radheshyam Lodh's transformation from traditional farming to commercial vegetable production exemplifies the potential of entrepreneurial spirit in rural communities. With determination, support from organizations like Daayitwa, and a commitment to sustainable practices, Lodh has not only achieved financial success but also made a meaningful impact on his community's livelihoods.
